FAQs

Got a question?  If it's not answered below, contact us and we'll help.

Of course.
We choose venues that are accessible and thoughtful; lifts, good lighting, accessible toilets, wide corridors, handrails on stairs, assistance dog and wheelchair friendly.
If you are registered disabled and have a carer, we can admit them for no extra charge (just contact us to let us know).

A laptop – you need to take all your own notes, and to edit on it.
And your phone, of course, as you’ll shoot the majority of footage on that.
(We want you to start learning with the gear you already have - that way you’ll be up and running as quickly and cost effectively as possible).
If you have another device you’d like to use as well, whether that’s a tablet, Go-Pro, camcorder or DSLR, certainly bring it along.  And if you have a tripod, bring that along too.
But if it's just you, your phone and your laptop, that's enough.

Because hardly anybody reads them afterwards.
And even if you do read them, notes after the fact never have the same weight or impact as listening and understanding in real time, and having the chance to ask any questions as soon as they occur to you.
Plus, notes that you write yourself are always going to make more sense to you.
Listen along, question us, and write the pieces of information you’ll really use in your own way.

Sometimes ~ it depends on which course you're doing.  If you do need to come with software, and we’ll tell you exactly what you’ll need before the course starts.  All the software we use works on all devices, and is either free or included in the course price.

Appearing on camera is extremely good practice for being a producer / director, and gives invaluable insight into how others feel, how to look into a lens and so on.
But you don’t have to be filmed if you really don’t want to.
We split everyone into very small groups to practise the practical skills, one of you filming, one of you being filmed, and then swap over.  If you really don’t want to be filmed, we can work around that.  You’ll miss out on a lot of fun though, and a lot of incredible learning.  Perhaps see how comfortable you feel when you’re actually in the room with us, and decide then.
Please note though that we do sometimes film the whole group for promotional purposes.  Again, if you really can’t bear that idea, let us know.

Not such a daft question, given that we’re talking about building big online audiences.
However, training is only as good as the steps you take to put it to good use.
We give you all the knowledge you need, then it’s over to you to make it happen.

Seriously?

No.
Information taken out of context of the whole course won’t get you a good result.
We’ve compressed 50 years of experience into our courses.  They are already packed.  If you’re serious about making the best videos and using them to build a genuine audience, you need the whole course.
These are courses for people who want to know it all, rather than those who just want shortcuts (which never work anyway).

No, sorry.  See the question and answer above.

This is not the course for you.
We reserve the right to refuse entry to anyone using or working with offensive material.

All the information about the sign up process is included on the individual booking pages.

Post-course support is tailored to each individual course.
Whichever course you're on, we’ll do our very best to make sure you’re supported.

Well, we could.  But we are very expensive.
Far better to make a smaller investment in us showing you how to do video well
(a skill you or your team can use to make videos for years to come)
than us doing it for you.
But, we are really friendly, and of course we'll help if we can.
